Summary of your proposal.

We would like to work together to help Juicebox and CANUDAO improve the process of onboarding new DAO operators (= who are contributing and building on top of Juicebox). In order to lay the foundation for Juicebox and CANUDAO, DAO Masters is suggesting to establish a long-term working relationship, starting with an initial discovery phase.

This would include:

  • Auditing 2 onboarding sessions led by Jango and Zeugh with new members of the DAO.
  • Debriefing with Jango and Zeugh to document the FAQs onboarding process. This will give us a sense of what context, permissions, and documentation might be needed.

The goal of the initial discovery phase is to develop growth objectives for 2022 and form a more detailed plan for optimizing collaboration across the Juicebox ecosystem. We would like to timebox the initial discovery phase to 2 weeks.

What gaps do you see in the DAO's process, and how might you help to fill them?

Based on a conversation with Jango and Zeugh (1/31/2022), DAO Masters believe the main issues Juicebox are facing, are:

  1. There is a need for more onboarding calls and support. There are a lot of people who want to build on top of Juicebox and the team spends 1-2 days a week fielding onboarding calls.
  2. The onboarding process and resources could be improved: DAO Operators who build on top of Juicebox are currently supporting others ramp up onto Juicebox, however there are no formal responsibilities or incentives.
  3. While the onboarding channel provides an outlet for members to join and ask questions, there isn’t a structured process to improve the knowledge of the DAO operators to the point they feel able to lead onboarding calls themselves.
  4. Although Juicebox has general tutorials for all configurations, they need a better way to standardize the process to build new materials anytime a new configuration has been added.

In answer to these gaps, DAO Masters believes that they can help Juicebox, by:

  1. Audit the onboarding experience from a new Dao Operators perspective as well as those more experienced ones who are currently volunteering to help with onboarding (including roles, process & resources).
  2. Collect the latest research and case studies from Dao Masters and CANU network to identify potential new approaches.
  3. Develop a proposal for implementing a new onboarding playbook & tooling, in collaboration with CANUDao, that includes a 'Train-the-Trainer' program for Juicebox to scale their community-driven onboarding.

What DAO Masters has done:

  • We’ve built out our own onboarding process with community members at DAO Masters, and refined it across three seasons. During this time, we’ve ensured that people feel engaged, are contributing meaningful work and making the most impact on the DAO.

We’ve also had some follow-up calls with fellow Juicebox core contributors to make sure we understand the major pain points for starting a Juicebox project, including:

  • Feb 4, 2022 meeting with 0xstvg to see what the project set-up looks like and hear most common questions asked by
  • Feb 23, 2022 meeting with JZ as he walked us through the common painpoints and three case studies he put together in his user research
  • Mar 4, 2022 meeting alongside 0xstvg and filipv as they onboard Studio Movie DAO to consider using Juicebox for treasury management

What’s the range for the trial period?

We expect the trial period to last 2 weeks. Angelaa and Julialipton will be the main point of contacts with an additional potential contributor. Communication can take place in the “Juicebox Project Working Group” channel in the DAO Masters server or via email or an alternative method proposed by the Juicebox team.

Deliverables

By the end of this trial period, we expect:

  • To have synthesized and summarized pain points that new contributors are facing, and top FAQs to address them basing it off some of JZ’s existing research
  • To write out 1 case study with a DAO that Juicebox thinks is best to highlight on their website for future usage: this will include a template of the configuration they used when deploying the project
