Title: CanuDAO payout renewal
Author: Zeugh
Date: May 20th, 2022
Thesis:
Canu has been delivering it’s goals in community and development, and wants to extend it’s current payout of $8000/ cycle for one more cycle while it finishes internally discussing a new proposal.
Abstract:
As the payout period of CanuDAO for community management, research and development on tools and services for community ends, this is a proposal to renew it, exactly the same, but only for one more cycle instead of more 90 days.
Motivation:
Canu is discussing relevant related topics inside it's own governance and the submission of a 90 day new proposal would probably cross it in ways that would be unhealthy for a better outcome.
The previous proposal, being renewed, can be seen here: https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/QmSgA1UbasPGotwBZdZnJWKfECsoQHWu6spNUnoZoLscs3
In the following link you can find a short report of how the goals of this proposal have been delivered: https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/QmYwviQadXj684qAUBt4C6dCAyBW827meg2AR1zq5LWAmd
Risks:
CanuDAO doesn't finish it's proposals in time for next cycle and are left out of payroll
Specification:
CanuDAO extends it’s $8000/cycle payout period for one more cycle for the work of research, management and development in the areas of Community, DAO tooling and growth.
Rationale:
As stated in the proposal for the ongoing payout, Canu's goals include improving it's structure to provide better service for new projects running in Juicebox and we were going trough a big internal reorganization moment. Those two things together have impacted Canu even further than I expected.
In the last 3 months we've been gradually having more of our resources directed towards research and development to create and improve more scalable tools and processes so we can better support the development of new communities. This was motivated mostly for realizing that the work delivered currently by Zeugh in Juicebox and by Gogo in Slice, like described in the older proposal, is not something we found a efficient manner to expand to more projects as it's a job of constant presence in the space and hard to replicate for multiples.
In this next phase of Canu's and Juicebox partnership the goal is to get more energy in this building area. As we face a possible bear market the idea of cutting costs is important, but bringing new value in is also essential, our goal in the near future is to be allocate more devs and informational organization so we can make those tools more accessible to those communities in an autonomous way, where Canu can be hired to provide a service if there’s availability and interest, but can also just supply the basics a community needs for free to the project, based on what it's been developing under juicebox's payout.
We also want to onboard into canu new people that have been spectacular in juicebox community and could really help us bring other communities to its best practices for good growth, visibility and vibe. That's why felixander, Casstoshi were invented into the Canu’s team and more talks with matthewbrooks and brileigh are underway, to learn how we can collaborate to take our good practices further for more communities.
The expectation in Canu right now is to have a raise payout proposal in next cycle, in order to provide better payouts for our devs and internal team and bring new people in so we can better expand our service for new Juicebox projects.
Timeline:
This cycle: extension of payout and closing of the discussions on Canu’s governance. Next cycle: new proposal from Canu to create a new payout for the next period.
