Title: Add Matthew and Brileigh to recurring payout

Thesis

Add brileigh.eth and matthewbrooks.eth to a recurring payout for $2000 USD each ($4000 total) per funding cycle to contribute to storytelling, education, and improving Juicebox’s visibility through a series of podcasts, Twitter Spaces, videos, and written content.

Abstract

To help spread the juicy word, we are proposing a recurring payout for $2000 USD each ($4000 total) per funding cycle to fund the production of JB materials including but not limited to: a Juicebox podcast, Twitter Spaces, due diligence video reviews, Juicebox project case studies, and written content about projects and use cases of the protocol. By experimenting with different types of content, we aim to bring more awareness to JB projects, inspire new project creation through the success of past projects, and help explain how JB works with concrete examples and use cases.

Motivation

Over the last few months, we have been finding where we fit within the DAO and want to become full-time contributors at Juicebox. Though we have enjoyed producing the podcast, we want to expand our contributions to make a greater impact at bringing more visibility and awareness of the protocol through storytelling and educational content. Right now, we juggle our contributions here with multiple jobs and want to direct our main attention towards JB, allowing us to fully commit to the community that we love most.

We are confident that we can bring long-term value to the JB ecosystem through content creation, storytelling, and educational materials that bring more users to the protocol while creating a stronger community in the process.

Recent Work

We have spent the last two trial periods producing the Juicecast, a cultural anthropology of Juicebox featuring interviews with community members building and maintaining projects using the protocol. We have taken a portion of our payouts and invested in more audio equipment—additional microphones, audio software, and acoustic treatment—to ensure that our productions are very high quality.

Here is what we have already published:

🦈 The Nouns ecosystem and sub-DAOs with Dropnerd from Shark DAO

🕵️‍♂️ A deep-dive into the Juicebox sleuths DrGorilla and Zhape from Moody’s DAO

🚀 The crypto space race with Pablo and Kori from Moon DAO

This is what we are currently working on:

🏗 Lexicon Devils podcast episode (recorded Thursday June 16)

📄 Lexicon Devils article (Lexicon Devils: A Metaverse Architecture Guild Built on Juicebox)

📷 Professional documentation of JB x Morgenstern’s event

🍦 JB x Morgenstern’s (live podcast journal recorded during the event)

Miscellaneous tasks:

🏦 Maintaining the Ongoing Contributor Payouts table on Notion

Future work

🎙️ We’ll continue producing the Juicecast as a storytelling vehicle for projects and communities built on the protocol. Going forward, we would also like to cross-post this content to YouTube/Vimeo as videos and share them on Twitter to increase the visibility of projects on the protocol as well as the podcast itself.

Podcast episodes that we have in the pipeline:

🃏 Experimental governance with Joke DAO (confirmed for after NFT NYC, date TBA)

🍊 The frontend wizards of Peel

🧃 Reflections on 1 year of the Juicebox protocol with Jango

📜 A retrospective 2-part deep dive on ConstitutionDAO

🐦 We would like to experiment with the Twitter Space format with casual builder conversations. We have begun planning a space with ComicsDAO (date TBA) and would like to continue with other trending projects such as DomainDAO, BuidlGuidl, etc. Broadly, we would like to better leverage momentum and pursue storytelling that is of-the-moment and fresh to best inform the community about everything happening in the Juicebox ecosystem.

🔍 We are coordinating with Moody’s DAO to begin a series of due diligence videos, poking fun at projects to find comedic relief within analysis. These videos will critically examine configurations in order to teach listeners about a given project, best practices for creating their own projects, and how this whole juicy protocol works.

🎥 In addition to the due diligence videos, we would also like to produce case study videos that examine specific use cases through successful past projects e.g. Constitution as a fundraiser, Tile as an NFT project with governance, and Wagmi/Canu/Lexicon Devils as a service. Jango has expressed interest in appearing as a guest for this series, but other guests could also include project founders/contributors as well as Moody’s DAO.

✍🏻 Lastly, we would like to contribute to the JB blog by writing about projects and the protocol more broadly. Our goal with these articles is to increase the searchability and visibility of projects in order to help them succeed, and to educate readers about what Juicebox makes possible. This will also help to further decentralize the JB blog by adding content from more authors. Here are a few articles that we have in the pipeline:

🖊 Lexicon Devils’ metaverse architecture and ongoing curation of the virtual

🖊 Introducing the Bannyverse

🖊 A multi-part series on the history of projects on the Juicebox Protocol

🖊 JB DAO and the “headless brand”

🖊 A deep dive on the iconic Banny art that represents JB

In addition to writing on her own Mirror, Brileigh has written long-form content for Obscura, including an article that was selected for the Mirror Spotlight Series and was granted a $WRITE token. These articles are written collaboratively with Matthew, who adds flavour and clarity while copy editing. Here are some examples:

📄 Embracing the new with the old: the August Sander 10k NFT collection

📄 The Black Mechanism: An Interview with Todd Hido

📄 In Translation: An interview with Claudia Pawlak

Risks

  • Not producing enough content to justify the increased payout amount
  • Recurring payouts should be weighed seriously given market conditions

Specification

Add $2000 USD recurring payout from FC#25 to FC#31 to matthewbrooks.eth

Add $2000 USD recurring payout from FC#25 to FC#31 to brileigh.eth

Rationale

Previous trial payouts were $1000 USD each for Matthew and Brileigh per funding cycle. With an increased workload of more than double the previous amount of work, we are requesting double the payout to reflect these new deliverables and ensure that we are able to dedicate ourselves full-time to JB.

This rate is taking into account market conditions while also reflecting our workload as two full-time contributors to the Juicebox ecosystem.

Timeline

We will continue to produce at least one podcast episode per month, but many of the proposed deliverables above are experiments in content creation and therefore will not have a fixed schedule. Rather, we need to be agile and try many different approaches to figure out what works best before leaning in further. This period of trial and error should result in many deliverables, whether they are polished or not, and should emphasize shipping over perfection.

Throughout and especially towards the end of this recurring payment, we will look back critically at what has worked, what hasn’t, and determine the direction that will be most beneficial to JB going forward.
