Synopsis

Renew Matthew and Brileigh’s recurring payout for seven (7) funding cycles to continue producing The Juicecast, educational materials for project creators, and Juicenews.

Motivation

Juicebox needs compelling, practical, and on-brand materials to attract new project creators, improve understanding of the protocol, and ultimately drive adoption. Juicebox faces the same problem as Pied Piper from HBO’s Silicon Valley: the team built a powerful tool with huge potential for mainstream adoption yet most of the public struggled to understand how and why they should use it. An effective way forward for Juicebox is to create pragmatic resources for end-users: step-by-step tutorials, use case videos, conversations with successful projects, and consistent ecosystem updates.

Recent work

📰 Ecosystem Updates

Juicenews is a weekly newsletter capturing all of the latest developments in the Juicebox ecosystem including recent podcast and blog articles, protocol updates, tutorials and guides, governance recaps, and town hall summaries.

📚 Educational Content and Docs

We have recently begun producing tutorials and step-by-step guides to help project creators better understand the protocol and easily build and maintain their projects.

We have also created articles about successful projects as case studies of what can be built on Juicebox. This includes Project Highlights which tell the story of a project and Config Guides which break down how a project was configured on Juicebox and why.

🎙 The Juicecast

The Juicecast is a cultural anthropology of Juicebox featuring interviews with community members building and maintaining projects using the protocol. We are responsible for all production tasks from interview prep, scheduling guests, co-hosting, editing, and audio engineering.

We also promote episodes through Twitter campaigns which generate a significant # of impressions.

  • ConstitutionDAO campaign generated 70k+ impressions
  • Regular Juicecast programming generated 35k+ impressions

Juicecast production has expanded to include video podcasts with high-profile guests to help bring new audiences into the Juicebox ecosystem.

We’ve also recently started producing NFT Tokenomics Office Hours with Nicholas and Jango and distributing it on the Juicecast feed (Episode 1, Episode 2).

🖥️ Building out JBDAO YouTube presence

To increase the searchability and discovery potential of JB content currently being produced, recently we have placed greater emphasis on YouTube through the following strategies:

  • Created a Juicecast full episodes playlist with podcast episodes cross-posted as 4k waveform visualizers and catchy titles
  • Created a Juicecast Clips playlist with new 2-5min videos highlighting quotable moments from Juicecast interviews with high-profile guests
  • Added new videos to the Tutorial playlist with SEO-optimized titles and colourful thumbnails

Upcoming work

🎙️ We’ll continue co-hosting and producing The Juicecast as a storytelling vehicle for projects and communities built on the protocol. We’ll also handle production tasks for NFT Tokenomics Office Hours with Nicholas and Jango.

📚 We’ll continue making essential tutorials and step-by-step guides for project creators, and will also begin producing use case videos to help build JB mental models. Here are a few videos and guides in the pipeline:

  • How to reconfigure your project on Juicebox
  • How to offer refunds for your Juicebox project
  • Project Create Flow (short 3-5min videos on each step of the project creation flow on juicebox.money)
  • Juicebox for x (e.g. JB for content creators, JB for open-source software, JB for non-profits, etc.)

📝 We’ll work together with Filip to improve the Project Creator docs experience and implement the following changes:

  • Migrate tutorials and project highlight/config articles from the Blog to the Project Creator docs
  • Integrate video tutorial links into the Project Creator docs and implement some visual improvements for a friendlier experience

👀 We’ll increase our content distribution to improve searchability:

  • cross-post tutorials, project highlights, and config articles to Medium
  • cross-post Juicecast episodes to Mirror.xyz
  • launch Juicecast project with NFTs by Sage (in progress)

📰 In addition to continuing to release Juicenews on a weekly basis, we will work with Filip to begin posting protocol updates as Discord announcements to keep community members informed and up-to-date.

Specification

Add $3000 USD recurring payout from FC41 to FC47 to matthewbrooks.eth from the v3 treasury

Add $3000 USD recurring payout from FC41 to FC47 to brileigh.eth from the v3 treasury

*Please note that this payout will be routed to a Juicecast project once NFT assets are finalized in collaboration with Sage. Once ready, Matthew and/or Brileigh will inform the bookkeeper to transfer this payout to the Juicecast project instead of the addresses listed above.

Rationale

We are proposing to renew our existing payout to reflect the continued workload and output that we have established over the last seven funding cycles. We are converging on more effective and pragmatic strategies and are asking for JBDAO’s support to continue bringing greater visibility to the Juicebox ecosystem.

Risks

Matthew might lose his streak in the gm channel in JBDAO Discord (currently 311).

Timeline

This proposal should take effect immediately and last seven funding cycles, starting in FC41 and ending in FC47 (inclusive).
