Synopsis

Completing Temp Chek. Austin, TX, activation and YouniFest planning. Artist Payout in YouniDAO JB Treasury for Youni Fest 2023_._

Motivation

In order to increase awareness of YouniFest, we are currently on the road marketing with a traveling onboard and crowdfund campaign we call "Temp Chek." The goal of Temp Chek is to enable local musicians to build their own networks and alliances through their in person interactions while informing them about Youni Fest and the ethos of Web3. As the community expands, Temp Chek and YouniFest will become annual events. Youni DAO will continue building alliances with JuiceBox annually.

Why is Temp Chek important? Temp Chek is more than raising awareness around YouniFest. The circuit built by Temp Chek generates independent conduits for local musicians to access open source resources and networks to build their careers. Eventually, no matter what city you're in, you can perform, make a connection, or gather information as a local musician! There is no platform that gives artists this type of cross-city, local accessibility and opportunity.

Temp Chek will carry out its work until March 2023, after which we intend to travel to Austin, TX for SXSW. Here we will bunker down and use funds to begin initiating YouniFest while gathering final sponsorships. Austin, TX, is a growing entrepreneurial hub that could have many funding opportunities. We lived in Austin for a year in 2021–2022, and we have many promising connections, even more promising if we have a community like JB supporting our efforts.

We'd like to schedule once-weekly public onboarding sessions to meet up with locals who want to learn about Web3 platforms/tools. We can use these sessions as an opportunity to talk more about JuiceBox and supply resources for projects that are interested in aligning with JuiceBox. During our stay in Austin, we will also host intimate creative sessions at our rental, “sponsored by YouniDAO & Juicebox". This gives local creatives the opportunity to be intrigued about how we were able to host these sessions.

Specification

$5,000 to the YouniDAO wallet as soon as possible to finish Temp Chek. An additional $5,000 to the YouniDAO wallet in March to support the planning phase of YouniFest. $14,000 to the YouniDAO JB Treasury for artist payouts in April 2023.

Rationale

Why is this specification appropriate?

It's important to understand that the artist payout money ($14,000) will remain in the JB treasury until we begin paying artists post-performance, for reasons of security and complete transparency to contributors. Additionally, whatever isn’t used will be kept in the Treasury for the following YouniFest or other artist support initiatives that we would be happy to explore with the community.

We decided to break up the first $10,000 into $5,000 increments so that we can build trust with the JuiceBox community and hold space to ask questions and gain clarity with each step.

Risks

If we are unable to secure our total estimated sum from sponsors by April 2023, the number of cities we tour may need to be reduced. It's the last thing we would want, since it would be very disappointing to do any fewer than 7 cities, but we are willing to make adjustments if they are required to keep the train rolling. In the instance that we won’t need the full $14,000 for artist payouts, we will keep leftover funds in the JB treasury for additional activations voted on by the YouniDAO and JB community, or for Youni Fest 2024 artist payouts.

Brenna and Saiko will be the only people traveling with Youni Fest (unless we are able to find someone else who is available for 3 months and we can pay them). Because of this, even though we have done a lot of traveling and have a lot of experience with the road life, we would not be able to continue with Youni Fest if one of us were to get sick or injured. Depending on the severity, we might have to briefly take a break and skip a few stops. We would apply the same resolution for artist payout as stated above.

On the off chance that we do not raise any funds at all for Youni Fest, we would naturally not receive any of the Artist Payout grant from JB
