Synopsis

Renew Peel’s recurring payout at US$60,000 per funding cycle (FC). Peel is the team that builds and maintains juicebox.money.

Motivation

Juicebox is at a crossroads. With JuiceboxDAO’s limited runway, it is imperative that funds are allocated to people and projects that are taking clear steps to making JuiceboxDAO a sustainable organization.

Peel is on a mission to connect 1,000,000 creators to 100,000,000 backers to contribute $1,000,000,000.

The Peel team has proven its ability to execute (Appendix 1). We now endeavor to take it to the next level by focusing on a single goal: driving revenue to JuiceboxDAO.

We outline our product strategy and vision for Juicebox in https://grand-popcorn-c81.notion.site/Product-framework-dc8da04f5b7e4197bd27ebbf5fa43e9b.

Our strategy was not formulated on a whim. It has emerged after many user interviews, focused workshops and discussions with you, the JB community.

High-level goals:

  1. Evolving the Juicebox brand into an attractive, trustworthy and desirable brand.
  2. Creating brand alignment with a clearly branded ecosystem of products.
  3. Expansion of JBM functionality into new funding verticals to capture new markets/opportunities.
  4. Introduction of management tools to increase product engagement and value post-fundraising/launching.
  5. Introduction of product marketing channels such as email to onboard, education and re-engage users.

For a complete roadmap on how we get there, see https://grand-popcorn-c81.notion.site/Product-framework-dc8da04f5b7e4197bd27ebbf5fa43e9b.

Some juicebox.money features that are included in the roadmap:

  • Enhanced project discovery: e.g. search, project tags, project recommendations
  • Account profiles: your JB hub (MVP live now)
  • Project watchlists: get notified about project activity via email
  • Project update notifications: projects can share updates and announcements with their community.
  • Revamping of Project Settings: 10x usability

Success is not guaranteed. But failing to plan is planning to fail. We are asking for the JB community’s support to give us the best chance at helping JB succeed.

Specification

Continue payouts of US$60,000 per FC to Peel (V3 project handle @peel) for 12 funding cycles.

Rationale

A US$60,000 payout is unchanged from our last proposal.

Here is a breakdown of how we are currently using these funds. FTE = Full-time equivalent; IC = individual contributor; DRI = directly responsible individual Our current capacity is as follows (see Juicebox funding distribution):

  • 1 lead/DRI @ $14,000 per FC
  • 5 FTE ICs @ $9000 per FC

Beyond this, Peel must budget for infrastructure including but not limited to Infura, Vercel, TheGraph, Tenderly, Heroku, and Fathom Analytics.

Risks

  • Peel fails to help drive value to the DAO.
  • Peel doesn’t use funds effectively.
  • Peel’s projects don’t meet community expectations.
  • Peel fails to communicate development progress and product updates.
    • Note: Peel is committing to giving more regular product updates in JB Townhall, the JB Discord, as well as broader announcements (with help of the Visibility team)

Timeline

This proposal should take effect in FC 44 (should be executed during FC 43) Peel should be removed from recurring payouts from FC 51 (after 7 cycles).

Appendix

1. Evidence of execution

Since our last payout, we’ve been in bolt-tightening mode, while also adding select new features along the way.

  • Provided 24/7 support to project creators and JB community.
  • Immediately prioritized contract-crew needs, to integrate new contract features and support new versions of JB contracts.
  • Continued enhancements to core functionality:
    • Project creation iterations.
    • NFT rewards enhancements (multi-selection, videos).
    • Safe page for multisig-owned projects.
  • Overhauled much of our infrastructure and code base in order to provide value to users quicker and more reliably long-term.
    • Provided end-to-end upgrade support for V1 and V2 projects.

2. Peel projects

Peel commits to owning and maintaining the following projects:

  • juicebox.money and goerli.juicebox.money.
  • The Juicebox Subgraph, on TheGraph.

Other future Juicebox-related projects that require Peel’s involvement should be considered in a separate payout proposal.
