Synopsis
Renew Peel’s recurring payout at US$60,000 per funding cycle.
Motivation
In our last proposal, Peel presented a number of items that have been successfully delivered (https://www.jbdao.org/s/juicebox/398), with the addition of other features. These include:
-
Redesign, build, and deployment of the new project page.
-
Redesign, build, and deployment of new project settings, including an overhaul of project configuration.
-
Addition of new project creator tools/features such as:
- Rich text editor (usage seen in the last several projects), and
- Project updates (usage seen in several projects inc. https://twitter.com/juanlarrazabal/status/1691117660699000834).
-
Redesign of the create flow inc. thoughtful education contributions such as:
- Improved flow and layout,
- Educational side panel,
- Draft/save project, and
- Preview project.
-
Addition of an automated bug bot for Linear tracking and management.
-
Considerable growth exploration efforts including Gamewallet (delayed), ETHGlobal & Devfolio partnerships (in progress).
-
Tons of smaller improvements and bug fixes.
During the research and exploration of the ‘apps framework’ and implementation of further features, we have uncovered new, deep learnings that have helped us understand the future of Juicebox.money. In summary, we have identified that:
- The largest demand lies in fundraising, however, projects aren’t getting successfully funded. This is due to the underpinning funding mechanism being a mix of reward-based, donation-based, and token-based. These combinations do not instill ‘investor’ confidence, and we’ll continue to struggle to get projects successfully funded.
- The complexity of Juicebox.money and the multiple value propositions make it extremely difficult for users to discover, understand, and use. We try to do many things poorly, instead of one thing well.

The next 7 cycles & beyond
Peel's short-term future focuses on stabilizing JBM, allowing for a smooth, bug-free experience — and its long-term future focuses on producing value-driven dApps built upon the Juicebox protocol.
Responsibilities:
-
Commit to stabilizing JBM in the short to medium term, including:
- Critical bug management, and
- No new feature development, and
- Support critical contract versions and updates, and
- Support of new pay terminals (e.g. USDC, etc.).
-
Build and maintenance of Juice-SDK.
-
The design and build of the first few dApps to both cater to users' needs and kickstart the dev builder ecosystem, and
-
Focus on restructuring JBM to:
- Create clearer messaging around building dApps atop the protocol, and
- Eventually augmenting Juicebox.money to a suite of smaller dApps that reflect current functionality 1:1.
-
Ongoing individual dApp build in the medium to long term (on a per proposal basis).
Goals:
- Growth of the protocol by attracting more developer applications.
- Growth of the JBDAO treasury ($).
- Finding PMF across a range of smaller dApps.
Example dApps:
- Token design & issuance
- Payroll
- NFT minting & sales
- Reward-based crowdfunding
- Token-based seed funding
In summary, we would be looking to take the learnings from JBM, and split them into focused dApps, where we can better serve the user's value proposition, rather than forcing them into the ‘everything app’.

Note: The contents of this proposal would likely not see all of the mentioned dApps built, but rather a subset of the most impactful ones, in collaboration with the DAO.
Specification
Renew payouts at $60,000 per FC to Peel (V3 project handle @peel) for 7 funding cycles.
Rationale
We believe finding a level of PMF is critical to the protocol and Juicebox’s success. We have struggled to do so, but believe we’ve landed on a promising area given our learnings to date. With the primary focus on simplifying & focusing, we believe it will make it easier to;
- Market & attract users to Juicebox,
- Educate users on product functionality, and
- Fulfill user needs and value propositions.
In line with @jango’s comments [1] last proposal, Peel would like to focus on kickstarting more value-driven focused apps for users outside the immediate protocol ecosystem (~6 users):

Risks
- Peel fails to help drive value to the DAO.
- Peel doesn’t find PMF with new direction.
- Peel’s projects don’t meet community expectations.
Timeline
This proposal should take effect immediately. It should be removed after 7 cycles.
