Synopsis

Join forces with Artizen to launch the Juicebox Project Accelerator Fund to support community-driven projects from creators at the frontier of innovation. Each partner — Juicebox and Artizen — will contribute Ξ6 to form a Ξ12 Match Fund dedicated to fostering new Juicebox projects from the most talented creators in the world.

Context

Artizen partners with mission-driven organizations like Protocol Labs, Stability AI, and the Cannes Film Festival to fund breakthroughs in human creativity. To date, Artizen has awarded over $1,000,000 to projects from well known talent as well as emerging creators.

René is the co-founder of Artizen and would like to help us launch a Match Fund to support new Juicebox projects. The Artizen community will match our contribution up to $50,000 for the Juicebox Project Accelerator Fund. To further solidify our partnership, Artizen is also poised to roll out their $ART token via Juicebox, deepening the ties between our communities.

Once the fund is launched, we'll initiate an open call for project submissions. Both the Artizen and Juicebox communities will review these proposals via an online voting portal, selecting finalists who will then compete by selling cultural Artifacts as open edition NFTs. Based on the success of these NFT sales, winners will be awarded match funding and cash prizes from our pooled 12 ETH Match Fund. Awards will be strictly paid out from an Artizen Juicebox project into the winning recipients Juicebox projects.

The Juicebox Project Accelerator Fund is a catalyst for community-driven projects from the creators of tomorrow. We will support projects that push the boundaries of innovation and that are deeply rooted in community governance and ownership. This fund supports projects that launch on Juicebox, a programmable fundraising platform, aligning with our mission to connect millions of creators and contributors in the most transparent and community-oriented way.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for funding, projects must adhere to the following criteria:

Launch a project on Juicebox to transparently receive and manage funds.
Demonstrate a community-centric approach, giving members ownership and some degree of control over the project through tokens rewarded via Juicebox.
Be at the forefront of innovation by proposing transformative ideas that challenge existing paradigms or create new categories in art, science, technology, design, community, governance, or any area of human creativity.

Selected projects will receive financial backing, along with technical and treasury design guidance, and an opportunity to connect with Juicebox's extensive network of builders, creators, and innovators.

Specification

In the cycle following this proposal's ratification, send 6 ETH from the JuiceboxDAO multisig to an Artizen Juicebox project, where it will be combined with at least an additional 6 ETH from Artizen to form the prize pool for winning projects.

Prior to launching the fund, we will seek input from JuiceboxDAO members on Discord to refine the fund’s focus and language, ensuring it resonates with our collective goals.

Once the fund is live, both partners will leverage their platforms for maximum outreach: Artizen will tap into its network of over 20,000 creators, while Juicebox will engage its extensive community of builders and innovators.

Rationale

JuiceboxDAO's project uses USD accounting, but this fund is based on an ETH amount – it's simpler to send funds directly from the multisig.

Timeline

October 2023: Official launch of the Juicebox Project Accelerator Fund.
October 2023 - December 2023: Open call for project submissions. Both Artizen and Juicebox communities review and vote on submissions during this period.
January 2024 - March 2024: Selected projects compete for match funding and cash prizes by selling cultural Artifacts as open edition NFTs.
