Summary:
Update the governance process as explained here (IPFS).
Risks:
These changes could lead to potentially beneficial proposals being rejected due to low engagement during temperature checks or snapshot voting.
What are the changes being proposed?
The updated document can be viewed here (IPFS).
Changes:
- All times from 22:00 UTC to 00:00 UTC (back 22 hours)
- New requirement for proposals to either conform to a template or explain why they do not.
- Raising requirement to pass temperature check from 6 affirmative votes to 10 affirmative votes amounting to 30% or more of the total votes cast.
- New requirement for proposals to be executable to pass temperature check.
- Raising requirement for passing snapshot from 66% approval from 6 or more addresses to 66% approval with at least 15 total votes.
- Revamp emergency governance processes
- Updates to proposal templates to improve clarity and consistency.
- Phrasing updates throughout the document.
What is the goal of this proposal?
The goal of this proposal is to:
- Improve the overall quality of proposals.
- Improve the “DAO immune system”.
- Clarify the governance process.
- Correct errors and improve phrasing.
What is the expected impact of these changes?
These changes will help to improve the overall quality of proposals. More stringent temperature check requirements will filter out lower quality proposals, which will hopefully prevent governance burnout and disengagement in the long run. By making the governance process as clear as possible, Juicebox DAO will also improve the knowledge level of its voters.
What help might be needed from Juicebox DAO and its members?
Future updates to this document will be necessary, with an eventual goal of a sustainable process that other DAOs can use as a model to build their own governance processes.
