Abstract

This proposal simplifies the project system from 10 pages down to 5. Simplicity is important for new members that would like to contribute and participate in MoonDAO without needing to read several pages of documentation. These changes would go into effect over the next quarter as we build better UIs for Citizens to vote and delegate in our incentives space, and go fully into effect for Q4 2024.

Problem

This proposal makes several changes to the project system, including:

  • Delegates are no longer a thing.
  • Citizens allocate to projects, not Senate members. This is a big change, but an important one.
  • Revenue Distribution section is removed, projects that want to do a revenue distribution deal can specify it in the proposal.
  • Same with IP, default to open source but if the project wants to do something different it can.
  • FAQs factored out, same with calculation
  • 5% incentives penalty for project leads missing senate meetings
  • 5% incentives penalty for projects leads if their project contributors are not posting updates in the progress channel.
  • Rocketeer changed to Project Lead
  • Moonsettler changed to Project Contributor

Benefits

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Risks

Changing from Citizens distributing rewards versus Senate members may be bumpy at first, but will put power into the hands of many more people when it comes to directing MoonDAO and its incentives.

Objectives

Objective #1: Change the Project requirements for Q4 in advance of building more robust automations and user interfaces for incentives. Key Results for Objective #1:

  • Pass the new changes, and update our documentation.
