Abstract
MoonDAO wants to be part of real missions to the Moon and seeks products to engage the community and generate sustainable revenue. We propose MoonDAO joining as a partner to a DNA capsule mission to the Moon with LifeShip. The MoonDAO constitution, logo, and core documents would go in the capsule. Products would be sold and fulfilled through LifeShip for people to include their DNA and photos. LifeShip has procured the lunar mission with Firefly Aerospace for 2024 launch, designed the capsule, and will execute on the mission. This would be a statement for DAOs and governance beyond Earth, engage our community in a Moon mission, and provide a product to generate revenue.
An affiliate program would support sustainable revenue. LifeShip has Moon Kits for people to add their DNA, photos, ashes, or pet’s DNA to the mission. MoonDAO would sell these kits to generate revenue. Digital products could be sold with Mooney. MoonDAO would be a featured partner as part of the Launch Party and Moon Landing Party. This affiliate program will initially be for a 2024 launch and products can be continued to be sold for revenue generation for future launches.
This project will be for a 5 month marketing sprint to establish new products, prove revenue, and get MoonDAO represented on this mission to the Moon.
LifeShip is a community-powered mission preserving the DNA of Earth’s biodiversity and humanity in space biobanks. LifeShip is saving a copy of Earth on the Moon and for future interstellar missions to populate new worlds.
Additionally, LifeShip is preparing to launch a DAO with a mission to preserve Earth and green the Universe. As part of this project, we will explore further partnerships and strategies for MoonDAO engagement and potential token stake in the launch of the LifeShipDAO.
Motivation
The motivation behind this MoonDAO project proposal is to give MoonDAO a physical presence on the Moon and a product for sustainable revenue. This would be a significant statement for DAOs and governance beyond Earth, and would engage the MoonDAO community in a unique and exciting mission.
Specification
This project involves a marketing sprint towards creating a revenue generating product for MoonDAO as part of a partnership sending a capsule to the Moon with LifeShip. The LifeShip capsule would be a coin-sized aluminum capsule. It would contain the MoonDAO constitution, logo, and core documents, as well as members’ photos, DNA, and names.
The mission would be carried out with the help of a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket and a Firefly Blue Ghost lander, with a planned launch date of May 2024. All contents of the capsule must be delivered by August 1st 2023 to allow for time for assembly and printing the data into DNA. There is a likelihood that we will be able to extend delivery by several months.
Information gets encoded into synthetic DNA. People’s actual biological DNA gets preserved from a saliva sample. The DNA gets embedded in a Synthetic Amber Polymer in the capsule. Data also goes on a microchip in the capsule.
For the affiliate program, MoonDAO will sell the following products. Earning 50% for any sale on physical products and 50% for digital products (photos, music, videos…). Digital products can be paid for in Mooney. Physical products are to be bought in DAI.

Marketing
Marketing As an affiliate reseller of DNA kits and data space, MoonDAO will be responsible for the direct sale and marketing of these products. This proposal establishes a team for an initial exploratory marketing campaign for these products. In order to maximize the revenue brought in by this project we will utilize our existing media channels, contact network, in-person engagements, and paid advertising to market these products. We will create designs for digital and physical media that can be distributed by members and incorporate the marketing of these products into other activities where appropriate. We will market the products in connection with the ZeroG flights.
The MoonDAO marketing team will also ensure compliance of marketing with MoonDAO branding and address any complaints directly related to this. Attention will also be paid to the ethical alignment of any paid advertising sources.
A timeline of sales goals will also be maintained and published to ensure community awareness of the project.
Affiliate relationship to continue for 2 years at these percentages and terms.

Risks
- The rocket could blow up or the lander could miss the moon or crash. If it does not make it to the Moon all content will be flown on another subsequent mission if possible.
- The marketing team could generate too little engagement around this mission.
